Doesn't Jake kow anyone who plays Qb for the Browns ends up playing like shit. Hell the way Jake played this year, he'll fit right in :scetch: :scetch: :scetch:

NFL.com Wire Reports

Veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme agreed to a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.

Delhomme, who visited with the Browns on Thursday, is going to be given every chance to be the starter, reports La Canfora.

The 35-year-old QB was scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints on Friday, but his trip was delayed because his flight was canceled, league sources told La Canfora.

Delhomme was released by the Carolina Panthers last week after seven seasons.

The Browns have been actively shopping for a quarterback, a position they haven't been able to adequately fill since their NFL expansion return in 1999. Earlier this week, the team acquired backup Seneca Wallace in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks and released Derek Anderson, who took a swipe at Cleveland fans on his way out of town.

The Browns' interest in Delhomme seems to indicate a reluctance to hand the starting job back to Quinn, who has struggled as a pro. Quinn is just 3-9 in 12 career starts with Cleveland, but some of the former Notre Dame star's inconsistency probably can be attributed to the Browns' lack of talent, as well as coaching and front-office changes in recent years.

New Browns president Mike Holmgren said Friday that Quinn's future would depend on what other moves the team makes.

Quinn was rumored to be on the trading block last year, but the Browns didn't find a suitable deal, and he began the 2009 season as their starter. He was replaced just two-plus game games in by Anderson, who couldn't hold down the job and eventually was benched.

Holmgren knows that finding a competent quarterback is essential to any team's success.

"It's a huge decision," Holmgren said at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. "It's the most important decision on the football team, and the great teams have that guy."

The Browns currently have 11 draft picks, and it's possible they could use a high choice on a quarterback prospect.

Delhomme went 58-40 in seven seasons as the Panthers' starter and led them to their only Super Bowl appearance in his first season. However, he threw 18 interceptions last season and was cut so the Panthers could trim payroll and promote Matt Moore to starter.

Delhomme holds almost every Panthers passing record, and he broke down in tears after he was released last week as he said goodbye to Carolina fans.

18 picks is almost Favre like. Jake until last season was pretty good at protecting the pill.
I still think Quinn can play.I agree that he needs the better team around him and better coaching. Not a strong arm but,he has other strengths.

If you want to hold to that statement, then you have to ban yourself from bringing up a single super bowl championship.

Oh yes Lee.

Just a touch of success can be a beautiful thing. As shitty as our team was to begin the season, we still have a 4 game winning streak, including the game that ultimately knocked the Steelers out of the playoffs. We won the 4 games with an O-Line and RB. The QB situations should not change that, and Jake may be well suited for a ball control offense.

As a matter of fact, we should call him Jake "The Vasectomy" DelHomme.

Wait - Never mind. He'd be 99% non-productive. Maybe we should have called Anderson that.

That's a very "Glass is half full"assessment their Bus.
Browns have only been trying to get a Franchise QB since 1999. Seems like yesterday when ya really think about it.
They must have plans to trade up in the draft and get a QB.
Jimmy? Sammy?
Maybe they like the later round picks of Timmy and Cart.
I don't know Bus,but I think the Browns are going too draft a QB.

Browns have 12 picks. I still expect them to take Berry if they can. I believe that they'll take a QB, but not in the first round.

By the way - Looking back at Couch, he wasn't a bad player. The Browns should have drafted linement first, though.

I read an article on NFL Network that speculated the Browns would trade up and draft Jimboy Clausen,or rather that they should.
Now that was pure speculation,or wishful thinking as the author was not sure if the Browns' brass even knew how to trade up.
I will try and keep ya up to date on this breaking news.

Holmgren publicly stated that he isnt sold on Clausen. He can throw deeper than Quinn but Clausen doesnt excite me.

You cant believe word GMs are saying from this point on. Last year at this time Mangini was going goo goo over Sanchez. Sanchez was there for the taking and he ended up trading the pick to the Jets.
